About Lucille Carter
With a background in fine art and a lifelong connection to gardening, Lucille combines her creative vision with technical expertise to elevate every project she takes on.
Lucille's design philosophy is that a garden should be a collaboration between the designer, client, and the landscape. It should be created sensitively and respectfully. A garden is a living, breathing testament to connection, growth, and the enduring power of nature. A garden, whether sprawling or small, isn't just a patch of land; it's a living treasure. Its preciousness lies in the profound gifts it offers to our senses, our well-being, and our understanding of life itself.
Lucille grew up in a family of gardeners and creatives, where her love and knowledge of the craft were nurtured from an early age. Surrounded by inspiration, it was only natural that her education followed a similarly creative path.

She graduated from Winchester School of Art with a 1st class honours degree in Textile Art, which has contributed to her developed sense of colour, texture and form and she worked for several years as an artist before working with plants and the land. Her paintings have been exhibited in galleries such as the Royal Academy and the Mall Galleries and even Chelsea flower where her passion for painting and planting finally collided.
Whilst gaining RHS qualifications, Lucille worked as a gardener for several private clients, putting her knowledge into practice, before going on to complete a Destinction level diploma in Professional Garden Design at the Cotswold Gardening School.
